
Mary Alice Tucker, 87, of Raleigh passed away peacefully on January 21, 2016. She was born on July 3, 1928 to Malvern R. Spivey and Sarah Privott Spivey in Edenton, North Carolina. She grew up in Oxford and Raleigh.
Mary Alice enjoyed acting, and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City after graduating from high school. She acted in many plays at Raleigh Little Theater, and also enjoyed dancing and singing. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Robert B. Tucker, who passed away all too soon in 1976. She was secretary to the Dean of Engineering at NC State, and worked for a prominent Raleigh attorney for many years as well. She had a successful typing/transcribing business and loved cooking, crocheting, and needle point. She also loved to play games, especially Scrabble and Qwerty. She will be remembered for her beautiful handiwork, her quick wit and her many acts of kindness.
Mary Alice is survived by sisters Dorothy S. Bryant of Southern Pines, NC and Jean S. Hagler and husband Bill of Farmington, New Mexico; as well as many nieces and nephews, including Kimberly Hand and Randy Burnham of Raleigh.
Burial service at Montlawn Memorial Park will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Wake County, or the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC.
