She celebrated her 78th birthday just a few days earlier on August 29th and enjoyed a nice meal and birthday cake with her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jessica Jameson, along with her only grandson, Peyton Jameson, and his good friend Addie Schmidt. She had received gifts and flowers from several family members, and later that evening she told Jessica in a text that it was “one of the best birthdays.”
Terry was born in Occupied Japan in 1948. As a military family, they moved often and also lived in Tucson, Arizona and Bermuda before their final move to Greenville, South Carolina. There she attended Greenville High School, (graduating early as she skipped a grade, in the class ‘65). She briefly attended Winthrop Women’s College and in 1967 married Larry Jameson. They lived in Easley, South Carolina, with their sons Brian and David until they moved to Brandon, Florida, in 1976.
Terry was a hard worker and held positions at Popular Bank in Tampa and was Vice President of Marketing at FloridaFirst Bank in Lakeland, Florida. She was proud to have completed a competitively selected Certificate in Executive Leadership through The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Terry’s assistant at FloridaFirst, Jennifer Haldeman Schriffert, described her as “the epitome of class” and stated she “was known for her integrity, kindness and generosity.” She was active in community organizations such as the Polk Advertising Federation and Florida Public Relations Association. Her niece, Cali Hicks, shared her memory that “Aunt Terry taught me a lot about what a modern lady could be. I always loved and admired her. She was such a devoted mom. I remember sitting next to her at [Brian and David’s] games. …To me, she will always be the dynamo with boundless energy who approached every aspect of her life with warmth, charm, and genuine affection for everyone around her. [Her] home was always filled with warmth and love.”
Terry Jameson was a faithful and loving wife for 44 years to Larry Jameson, who passed in December of 2011. She was a devoted mother to David Jameson, who passed in 2009, and Brian Jameson, who loved her dearly and was equally devoted.
She is survived by Brian, Jessica, and Peyton along with her big brother, Rick (Tut) Farrell and younger sisters, Patty (Tom) Matthews, Bridget (Webb) Matthews, Barbara (John) Keller, and Andrea Cox. Nephews include Andy, Ben (Crystal), and James Matthews and Colleen (John) Sattler, Matt (Heather) Matthews, Alex (John) Wadsworth and Drew (Elizabeth) Farrell, Katie Matthews, Catherine (Cat) Keller, and Courtney Cox. Preceding her in death were her parents Andrew and Jacqueline Dolan Farrell, her husband Larry, son David, brother-in-law Tom Matthews and niece Meredith Cox.
After the loss of her husband Larry she relocated to Raleigh, NC to live with Brian, Jessica, and Peyton. They enjoyed having her with them, and she always provided a listening ear, words of wisdom, and a brightness that can only come from someone who holds deep faith and hope for the future. She was filled with love for all her family, including many grand-nieces and -nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned and more information is forthcoming.
