

Max Gerald Warren died July 9, 2011 at Springmoor Retirement Community. He was born in Raleigh in 1924, son of the late Percy Allen Warren and Alma Jones Warren. Mr. Warren graduated from Duke University in 1944 and married the late Oliveira James Warren in 1946. A retired Certified Public Accountant and life-long Raleigh resident, he was involved in numerous civic and social organizations.
Mr. Warren is survived by three daughters, Nancy Warren Dixon and her husband, David Lloyd Dixon III, of Roanoke, VA; Cynthia Warren Coleman and her husband, James Thomas Coleman, of Atlanta, GA; Joan Leigh Warren and her partner, Joyce Ann Hanula, of Silver Spring, MD; a brother, Joel Bennett Warren, and his wife, Diane Barth, of New York City; and nephew, Simon Warren of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Nancy Elizabeth Dixon Davis and her husband, Christopher James Davis, of Wexford, PA; James David Dixon and his wife, Courtney Anne Dixon, of Upper Arlington, OH; James Thomas Coleman, Jr. of Boston, MA; Warren Hamilton Coleman and William Stuart Coleman of Atlanta, GA; Charles Anthony Warren of Orem, Utah; Max David Warren of Silver Spring, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Henry Warren Davis and Elizabeth Dixon Davis, of Wexford, PA.
Interment will be private. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 24, at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 125 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the parish hall.
