Maybelle Dillard Scarborough

Maybelle Dillard Scarborough, 90, departed this life on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Maybelle was the daughter of Walter Ervin Dillard and Carletta King Dillard. She was born in Wake County on July 16, 1933, and lived there all her life. She was the baby of the family, with four older siblings.

On August 11, 1949, Maybelle married Robert Joe Scarborough and they spent 60 wonderful years together. She worked at Troxler Electronic Laboratories for over 20 years as a Quality Control Inspector and retired in 1987 to travel with Robert in their beloved R.V., and to spend more time with her grandchildren. Maybelle was a member of Garner Chapter 321, order of the Eastern Star, for 50 years. She loved spending time outdoors and worked on crafts and floral arrangements in her spare time.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert, one brother Eddie Dillard, and two sisters, Rose Dillard Gresham, and Nina Dillard Ray. Maybelle is survived by her daughter, Rita Scarborough Junkin and husband Larry, of Fuquay Varina, NC; two grandchildren, Kevin Harp and wife Emily of Baltimore, Maryland, and Amy Young and husband Jon, of Fuquay Varina, NC; two step-grandsons, Graham Junkin of Cary, NC, and Drew Junkin and wife Elizabeth, of Clayton, NC; great grandchildren, Noah Young, Hailey Young, Isla Young, and River Harp; and a step-great grandson, Luke Junkin. She is also survived by one sister, Wanda Ennis, of Morehead City, NC, and many nieces and a nephew.

A graveside service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC, 27612, on Thursday, March 28,2024 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Charlie Carroll officiating.
