Michael Ray Cook, age 70, partner of Patricia Ann Rago, passed away on June 23, 2026 due to complications from hernia surgery. Mike was born on May 8, 1956 in Bermuda. He moved multiple times during his life, including France, Colorado, North and South Carolina, as his father was in the air force. He settled in North Carolina, working as a commercial construction project manager on projects like the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Wake Tech Community College and the UNC football stadium.
He met Pat in North Carolina and they were together for the past several years. Once retired, they spent time bowling, golfing, going to plays and cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes. They also spent time traveling to some of the national parks out west, to Bermuda so he could see where he was born and to Hawaii, Florida and Montreal.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felton Ray Cook. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Hyatt, his siblings: Joannie (John) Hiott, Dale Cook, and Varina Darken; and his daughters: Kathy Powell, Ann Cook, and Amy (Brian) Phillips. Proud grandfather of Parker, Wyatt, Jacob, Adam and Andy.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in his name.
A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.
