Michael Andy Mancik, 70, of Raleigh, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 23, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Michael passed at 6:50 pm at Transitions LifeCare, with his daughter and her mother by his side. Michael was born April 16, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Kentucky, he went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. Following graduation, he spent over 30 years working for several Fortune 500 companies, including Square D, General Electric, Westinghouse, Siemens, and GTE in various sales and marketing and management positions.
Since moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, in September 2004, he was an active member at Providence Baptist Church and Capital Community Church. He divided his time between Raleigh, North Carolina and Honolulu, Hawaii. Michael was a people person and he loved being a Greeter at Church, reading, spending time at the beach, and rooting for his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats’basketball team and University of Georgia Bulldogs’ football team.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Providence Baptist Church located at 6339 Glenwood Avenue Raleigh, North Carolina, 27612 on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow the service. In honor of “Hawaii Mike,” please feel free to wear your favorite Aloha shirt. A limited number will also be provided at the service.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Ashley Mancik of Columbia, South Carolina, her mother, Cheryl Mancik of Daniel Island, South Carolina, his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Wayne Dennis of Lexington, Kentucky, his brother Michael Mancik, also of Lexington, Kentucky, and his brother Ralph Mancik of Katy, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Mancik, and his mother, Hilma (Suzy) Witschi Mancik.
