

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette “Granny” Riddle of Asheville, NC. He is survived by his beloved husband, Randy Roberts; cousin, Kathy Peele; dear friends Richard and Alyson Scoltock, Ann Wade, Michael McDade, and Kathleen Rowles. Michael will also be deeply missed by his cherished dogs, Chloe, Cody, and Hershey, who brought him so much joy.
Michael was a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned an undergraduate degree in European History and a graduate degree in City and Regional Planning. He went on to a fulfilling career as a project manager with IQVIA, retiring after many years of dedicated service.
A devoted member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh, Michael shared his gifts as a choir member and vestry participant. His faith and service to the church were central to his life.
Michael’s greatest loves were his husband, family, friends, and dogs. He found joy in gardening, cooking, serving his church, and spending time at the beach. Known for his warmth and generosity, Michael had a gift for bringing people together and was especially celebrated for hosting memorable gatherings.
Many thanks to neighbors, friends and the church community for their support. A special thank you to Esther Hall and to the wonderful, caring staff of the ICU at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 125 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27603. A reception will follow in Shepherd's Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chatham Animal Rescue and Education or a charity of your choice, in honor of Michael’s lifelong love of animals.
