Mehdy was born on December 29, 1992. He was a devout servant of God, a humble and charismatic human being, a loving and devoted son and brother, and a generous and loyal friend. But to describe Mehdy most aptly, one would have to say that he was a Lover of God! He lived and was the embodiment of the words of Prophet Muhammad (pbuhap):
"Love of God is a fire which does not pass by anything without burning it up" – because truly, all who knew Mehdy felt the power of that flame, the likes of which does not burn in just any ordinary person, but in the special few who engulf the rest of us in the superiority of their being. "The lover of God is the most inwardly sincere of all people, the most truthful in his words, the most faithful in his pledge, the most astute in his actions, and the most advanced in his service to humanity". Mehdy was that "lover of God" because not only was he the personification of inner purity, but he also demonstrated an unparalleled excellence in his actions. He was affectionate to his fellow man, building the bridges of compassion between all faiths, and striving for dialogue, understanding and mercy.
We always felt that Mehdy expressed himself in a manner that was from a higher plain, that he was at a level of spirituality and sophistication that was beyond our grasp. It was the knowledge that "angels compete with each other to converse with the Lover of God, and boast of having seen him" which brought about the realization within us that Mehdy was our very own angel.
Although his life was not nearly long enough for the rest of us, Mehdy had already moved hearts and minds with his sincere persistence and dedication to humanity. We strive to uphold and continue that legacy and we entrust him to the One he loved the most, the One to whom we must all return, for it is with Him that we will finally all be together in bliss.
