Mollie Eliza Davis Howell, 66, of Durham, NC, passed away on November 12, 2025, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her children and family in her final moments.
Mollie was born on June 6, 1959, in Columbia, SC, and later moved to Jonesboro, GA, where she was raised. In the early 1980s, her family relocated to the Triangle area of North Carolina. She graduated from Hardbarger Business College with an associate degree in Accounting and went on to build a long and dedicated career with American Airlines, working in payroll accounting for 27 years until her retirement.
Family was the center of Mollie’s life. She was always involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and was known for offering a warm meal, a sweet treat, and endless love. Summers were often spent by the pool at her home, where she welcomed friends and family for cookouts filled with good food, music, and laughter. Her favorite place in the world was the beach, and she had recently moved to the Myrtle Beach area with the hope of creating new seaside memories with her family.
Mollie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Betty Davis.
She is survived by her children: Tabitha Kitchens-Beatty of Lexington, SC; Joshua (Lillian) Speir of Landis, NC; and Zachary (Christian) Howell of New York, NY; as well as her beloved grandsons, Jack Beatty (15) and Lawson Speir (9). She also leaves behind her brothers, Jack (Patricia) Davis Jr. and Bobby Davis, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Mollie was generous beyond measure, giving freely and without hesitation. She was a loyal friend, a devoted mother, a proud “Me-me,” and a loving daughter. Her compassionate spirit, warm hugs, and comforting words touched many lives. Known for her vibrant personality, she truly was the life of the party—wherever Mollie was, laughter, love, and joy followed.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Neuro ICU doctors and nurses at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Mollie and her loved ones during her final days.
