

She is survived by her older brother, Dr. Alexander Maend (Elizabeth), of St. Catherines, Ontario; daughter, Leila Dada (Abdul), of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Aslan Taimasov and Tamer Taimasov, both of Durham, NC, and Michael Taimasov, of San Mateo, CA; grandchildren, Aleem Dada (Jean), of Raleigh, Shameena Broach (Danny), of Wilmington, NC, Karim Dada (Karen), of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Carson Dada, Hayes, Lanier and Belle Derbyshire; nephew, Rudy Maend, of Toronto, Canada; niece, Betty Maend, of St. Catherines, Ontario.
Nadia was a devoted and very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She has a very unselfish and giving heart for family, friends and her community. Her smile and gentle spirit could light up any room that she entered. Her gentle subtle spirit for life and her tenacity and drive for her family made her the true foundation of the family. Nadia was true, rare, and a genuine gem that will be missed by all that she encountered.
She survived the hardships of WWII in the German labor camp, where she met the love of her life, Ibrahim. Surviving the trials, tribulations and struggles during their tremendous journey of life enabled the family to learn values and survivorship – no matter what obstacles she always overcame gracefully. She was a very optimistic and had a positive outlook on everything which she instilled in her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, officiated by Fr. Gabriel of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church at 6803 US 70 – Mebane, NC 27302.
