Nancy was born on Dec 5, 1955 in Lindenhurst, New York to Andrew and Teresa Agozzino. Nancy and her sister Terri grew up surrounded by a loving family, rooted in Sicilian traditions. These traditions became the heart of family gatherings and a strong, cultural identity celebrated throughout her life.
After high school, Nancy moved to Florida and met her husband Richard while attending Florida Atlantic University. They built a loving home where their two daughters were raised with unconditional love and support. Nancy was a beloved teacher in Broward County, Florida for 35 years, where she specialized in helping kindergarten children learn to read.
Nancy retired in North Carolina to be close to her grandchildren. She volunteered for Free Moms, a charity that focuses on providing love and acceptance to college students through weekly gatherings that provide a space to embrace, celebrate and support them. In addition to Free Moms, she found joy in donating personalized gift boxes to underprivileged children.
Nancy cherished time with family and her three grandchildren, who adored her. She was passionate about her unwavering faith, and was gifted at conducting a weekly bible study. She always stood up for what she believed in and touched the lives of so many people with her generosity, devotion, selflessness and unconditional love. She will continue to live on in our hearts forever.
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”
Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard John Rusche; her daughters, Jenna Railsback, and her husband, Grant, of Raleigh, Valerie Andrews, and her husband Jon, of Durham; grandchildren, Mayson and Kade Railsback, J.D.
