Nicholas "Nick" Gus Russos, Sr.

Nick G Russos, Sr., April 15 1921 - December 9 2023, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born the youngest child to Greek immigrants Gus and Katina Russos. Nick attended Hugh Morrison High School and later served in the US Army. A lifelong resident of Raleigh he operated Gus Russos Cleaners a long time fixture in downtown Raleigh for decades. Nick was very involved with his church Holy Trinity where he was a devoted parishioner and board member.

Nick was predeceased in life by his parents Gus and Katina, 3 sisters and 1 brother as well as his first wife Diamond Russos. He was also predeceased by his grandson Nicholas Russos III.

Nick is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, Step Daughters Lisa Dove of Raleigh, NC and Cathy Parrish (Shayne) of Wake Forest, NC.

He is also survived by his four sons: Gus Russos (Denise) of Wilmington, NC; Harry Russos (Cathy) of Raleigh, NC; Nick Russos, Jr. (Revonda) of Raleigh, NC; and John Russos (Amanda) of Knightdale, NC. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Trisagion Prayer service at 6:00 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 5000 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612. The funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Burial followed at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612.
