Norman LeRoy Rose (77) passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on April 14, 2022, in Raleigh NC. Born in Baltimore MD on December 27, 1944, but having lived most of his life in Clarks Summit PA, Norm was predeceased by his parents Al and Eleanor Kohl Rose, and sisters Elaine Jeanette Rose and Dianne Bertha Rose.
Norm is survived by his dearest friend and beloved wife, Virginia Lane Rose; his sister-in-law Janice Price Caskie (Jim); his niece Karen Caskie Kallenberg (Michael) and her two very special children, Micah and Zoe; his sister-in-law Callie Ruth Cashwell (Charles Price, deceased); and his cousins Sonny and Deanna Paul, their daughter Amy Paul and her son Jeremy Litz.
Before retiring, Norm was a restaurant manager, videographer, instructional designer, instructor, jack-of-all-trades. In retirement, he volunteered many years at Dorcas Ministries (Cary NC) and served as an officer (Governor and President) in the Greater Durham Moose Lodge. He loved The Moose and its focus on community service to children and elders and the military. In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made to his home lodge that it may continue to serve through the next generations. A man with encyclopedic knowledge, Norm embraced life with fun, the joy of discovery and especially with love – gifts he gave to the world because of his deep, enduring faith. He lived by Prov. 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make straight your paths.”
Those paths led him to his eternal home with the LORD, Christ Jesus.
A celebration of his life is planned for May, 2022, and will be at the Greater Durham Moose Lodge.
