

Oscar Payne Hay, Jr. born at 105 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC on December 20, 1922 died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 23, 2015. Oscar was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder for many of those years and a Koinonia Sunday School Class member.
He was a pilot during World War II in the US Army Air Corps as a Lieutenant. Oscar graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School and North Carolina State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He had his own successful practice, Oscar P. Hay, Jr. Consulting Engineer for over fifty years. He enjoyed serving the Lord, traveling, painting, playing the clarinet, and flying.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ruth Enloe Hay; a daughter, Ruth Ann Lanio and husband Mike of Raleigh; a son, Thomas Enloe Hay and his wife Terrilyn of Greenville, SC and their three sons, Thomas, Jr., Stewart, and Lewis.
He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar P. and Susan Olive Hay, and his sisters Nell, Mary Olive, and Rosalie and his brother Thomas.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church, Raleigh. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 am- 11 am at the church. Burial will follow the service at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
