Prior to moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, in March 2022, Patty and her husband, Mike Keefe (deceased), were proud Northern Virginia natives and longtime residents of the Holmes Run Acres neighborhood of Falls Church, Virginia.
Patty was born on June 4, 1941, in Washington, DC, to the late Pasquale (“Pat”) and Doris (née Johnson) Coppola. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Washington, DC, and graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia.
She married Mike in 1961, at just 19 years old, and they shared a happy and loving marriage for 61 years. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Patty spent much of her career with the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, primarily as a bookkeeper in their accounting department.
Patty was beloved by all who knew her, always ready with a bright smile, a warm laugh, and a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel like family. She was not only a devoted mother to her own daughters, but “a mom to everyone,” offering kindness, comfort, laughter, and love to all who crossed her path.
Patty had a lifelong love of books and was a voracious reader. She loved attending musical theatre, going to concerts, playing games with friends, and was a devoted Washington Commanders football fan. Patty was always up for an adventure and lived life to the fullest.
She is survived by her children, daughters Catherine Reynolds, and her husband, Christopher, currently serving in Kathmandu, Nepal for the U.S. foreign service, Deborah Raif, and her husband, Walter, of Raleigh, NC; sister Doris Hegner, and her husband, Tony, of Galt, CA; brother-in-law, Lawrence Keefe and his wife, Linda, of Siesta Key, FL; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Michael John Keefe, her sister Katherine Foss, and her parents.
A Liturgy of the Word will be offered on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors prior to the service in the funeral home, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
