Paul graduated from Altoona Senior High in 1941. He worked at Middleton Air Depot and enlisted in 1942 in the Army Air Corps. Paul was trained as a fighter pilot and sent to China. He became a First Lieutenant and proudly served as a Flying Tiger in World War II. Paul returned from the war and enrolled in Penn State University on the GI Bill. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1950 and began work at D.P. Harris Mfg. in Reading, PA. He married Mary Lou Griffith on November 18, 1950. Paul later worked at Armstrong Corp. in Lancaster, PA. He then worked at AMP Inc. in Harrisburg, PA. He joined IBM in 1967 and subsequently worked for IBM in Princeton, NJ, Gaithersburg, MD, and Raleigh, NC. He was a manager and senior engineer before retiring in 1991.
Paul enjoyed persuing many passions in his life including competitive pistol shooting, building model cars and ships, sailing, photography, model railroading, jazz music, and spending time with his family. He was a long time member of the Sir Walter Raleigh Gun Club. He was a wonderful and caring father and grandfather. He was humble and kind and had a dry wit that endeared him to so many. He was truly a member of the "Greatest Generation".
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Amigh; son Kevin Amigh and wife Elizabeth; his daughter Tamsen McLean and husband Randy; grandchildren, Haylee McLean, Heather McLean, Jackson Amigh, Grace Amigh, and John Ross Amigh. Also surviving sister Suzanne Behers and brother Thomas Zeak, stepbrother James Amigh.
