

Paul was born and raised in Raleigh. His mother introduced him to hunting and fishing when he was 5 years old which became his life’s passion. After graduating from Needham Broughton High School, he served in the Army in Military Police, stationed in Sendai, Japan for two years and returned home to join his father at Chamblee Insurance Agency for 31 years. After retiring, he opened Chamblee’s Outdoor Outfitters, a premier sporting goods store well ahead of its time. Paul helped organize the Wake County Wildlife Club - Charter member - and started the Wake County Bass Master Club. He was BassMasters Classic qualifier five years in a row.
He was always fiercely loyal to family and friends, and those relationships sustained him throughout his life.
Paul Chamblee loved family, loved hunting, loved fishing, loved golfing, loved life.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Wisner H. Chamblee and Jessie Paul Coley Chamblee and daughter, Susan Chamblee Conroy.
He is survived by his very devoted wife of 64 years, Norma H. Chamblee; daughter, Catherine C. Hartofelis and husband, Harry; son, Paul C. Chamblee, Jr.; granddaughters, Cameron Hartofelis and Rachael Hartofelis; and his sister, Margaret Chamblee.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3:30pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St. Raleigh, NC 27605. Family will receive friends after the memorial service from 4-6 pm.
