Born on August 27, 1955, Paul was the son of the late Arnold Smith and Florence (Badolato) Smith.
He was predeceased by his sister, Anna M. Murphy.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Diane Smith; his loving daughter, Kelly George, and her husband, Phillip George Jr.; his brothers, Arnold C. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Ellen, of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Richard B. Smith and his wife, Angela, of Malden, Massachusetts.
He is also survived by his beloved cats, Part-Time, Mask, Brownie, and Bubba, and his dog, Marbbie.
Paul graduated from Northeastern University in 1978, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry.
Paul was the owner of a real estate company and worked in the industry for 26 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to those he served. In addition to his professional life, Paul was a volunteer with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, reflecting his commitment to helping others in his community.
Above all, Paul was a loving and devoted husband and family man. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his sense of humor, and the care he showed to those around him. His legacy is one of commitment, kindness, and quiet strength.
A service will be held on May 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral (200 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC).
Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at 21 Technology Drive, Garner, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Safe Haven for Cats, Peak Lab Rescue, or the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina in honor of Paul’s love for animals and his generosity toward others.
