Peggy Cook Thomas

Peggy Cook Thomas, 70, a loving mother who lost her fight with cancer on July 20, 2012, in Raleigh NC. She was born on August 10, 1941,in Beckley, West Virginia, beloved daughter of the late Neta and Ray Cook, and dear sister of Betty Towler.

Peggy retired from the NC State Retirement System. She was a friend to many, never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Thomas and fiancé Stuart "Flash" Gordon; son, Tim Thomas and fiancé Jackie Bullock Hicks; grandchildren, Kristen T. Williams, Shane Thomas, Isaac Thomas, and Jacob Thomas; nieces, Nancy Crabtree, Tina Beck and special friend Bryan Futch. Peggy also leaves behind her dogs, Ted and Coco.

Peggy acted as a second mom to many and friend to all. She will be greatly missed and remain in all of our hearts and memories.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, on Thursday July 26, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC 27612. A celebration of her life party, will be held at her home, 4320 Woodlawn Drive, at 5:00 pm on Saturday July 28. (for directions call 919-622-5448).
