Phan Kpa, aged 65, entered eternal life Sunday morning, February 9, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his wife, family and friends. Phan was born on March 10, 1954 in Pleitel, Vietnam, the son to Hyung Rcom and Hdi Kpa who are both deceased. He was the first group of Montagnards that were granted asylum in the United States in 1986 and made Raleigh, North Carolina his forever home.
Phan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Phan married his wife Hun Siu on January 23,1995, they have celebrated 25 years together. Phan and Hun have a son Akembo and he is the stepfather to three daughters Teresa ( Meng) , Hnuan and Hniem from Hun’s previous marriage. When he found out that he was going to be a grandfather it was one of the most joyous moments of his life. He is the grandfather to 7 grandkids , Miley, Derrick Jr , Landon, Maya, Mila, Carter and Peyton. He was expecting the arrival of his 5th granddaughter any day now.
Phan retired with HagerSmith Design in 2019, at the age of 65 due to his stroke. He worked with the company for over 33 years as an Administrative/Support. He loved his job and his colleagues, they were like his second family. He was a perfectionist when it came to his work. He took pride in his career. Phan was a man of many trades, from gardening , to wood working , to a mechanic , his occupation was endless. Whatever he was involved in, he made sure that it was done the right way. He never cut corners, and always made sure that the job was well done.
He was a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He made sure to go to church every Sunday alongside his wife. He was very involved with the Montagnard Community. Phan lived a life that was full of pride, joy, and happiness. He was caring, generous and most of all a family man. His faith was strong, his family was big, he was truly blessed.
Phan is survived by his wife, kids, grandkids, sister & brother-in-law, mother-in-law and many nieces & nephews.
