Born in Jackson, TN, on December 23, 1940, to Willie Monroe Williams and Edith Leigh, Preston was the eldest of three brothers. He grew up in Paducah, KY, and attended Memphis State University.
In 1963, Preston married the love of his life, Marcia Ann Braswell. Together, they lived in Memphis, TN, and Akron, OH, before moving to Raleigh, NC, in 1983. They built a beautiful family and shared a deep faith, attending various churches in the area, most recently Cary Church of God.
Preston had a distinguished career as a salesman for BF Goodrich, where he was recognized as one of the top salesmen in the country for many years. After retiring in the late 90s, he returned to sales in 2002, working at Belk Department Store in Southpoint Mall, Durham.
He was a proud father to his son, Jeffrey Williams (Shannon) of Uniontown, OH, and daughter, Jennifer Caraballo (Sam) of Raleigh, NC. He cherished his four grandchildren: Garrett, Gavin, Lucy, and Violet.
Preston was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served honorably in The Old Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed working in the yard and had a deep love for music. He embraced modern technology, filling up discs and hard drives with his favorite gospel music.
Preston is survived by his loving wife, Marcia; his brother, Richard Williams; his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Williams
