

Rebecca (Becky) Knight Clegg passed away on December 14, 2015, after a long, valiant battle with lung cancer. She was born September 6, 1935 in Raleigh, NC to the late James Ralph and Mildred Allen Knight.
Upon graduation from Meredith College in 1957, she was employed as an Archivist for the State of North Carolina. She married Henry in November of that year. They moved to Deland, Florida and lived there for two years and then returned to Raleigh. She was again employed by and retired from the State as an Internal Management Consultant after 30 years of service.
She was an active member of Benson Memorial UMC for 40+ years serving in various capacities. She was especially devoted to her Sunday School Class. She loved golf, bridge, puzzles, reading and helping others.
She is survived by her daughter Leslie C. McKnight and her husband, Jonathan of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and her daughter-in-law, Leigh Anne Clegg of Moncure, NC, her four grandchildren; Kristen and Kyle McKnight, Christopher Clegg and Joey Wandzilak, her sister, Carolyn K. West of Fernandina Beach, Florida and her extended Clegg and Knight family members. Her husband, Henry, and son, Mike preceded her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall, Benson Memorial UMC, 4706 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Chatham UMC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Benson Memorial UMC Building Fund, 4706 Creedmoor Rd., Raleigh, NC 27612 or a charity of one's choice.
