Richard was born to the late Richard and Barbara Huntwork on June 25th, 1958 in DeKalb, Illinois but lived most of his childhood in Warwick, Rhode Island where he attended Toll Gate High School. He then relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend college at North Carolina State University, where he studied Business Administration.
Richard was well-known for his gregarious personality, his love of loud music, sports, cars, and learning about various topics, and for co-founding a successful specialty soap and spa product business with his father in Raleigh. Though he had physical limitations due to an injury incurred years ago, he strived to live a healthy lifestyle to be able to help his loved ones, enjoy his hobbies, and to keep up with his two adored young grandsons. He filled his final days with home improvements, spending time with family and at the beach, specifically at Wrightsville Beach’s Johnnie Mercer's Fishing Pier.
He is survived by his son, Connor Huntwork; daughter, Kylen Ribeiro; son-in-law, Alan Ribeiro; grandsons, Vincent and Sebastian Ribeiro; sister, Annie Huntwork; brother, Theodore Huntwork; sister-in-law, Victoria Huntwork; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Felicia Bell.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life was held on Friday, October 11th, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC, 27612.
