Richard Grey Grey Liston

Grey Liston, 28, died Saturday July 20, 2013 in the Mount Olympus National Park as the result of a mountaineering accident. He made his home in Portland Oregon but was a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the son of Richard A. and Gail Crull Liston. He leaves a younger brother, Russell Seth Liston, 24.

He attended The University of North Carolina at Wilmington, earning a Master’s degree, majoring in Accounting and was a four year member of the UNCW Seahawk Swimming and Diving Team. He also served for 4 years as a member of the Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Team. Grey was a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Grey was also a Certified Public Accountant and employed with Moss Adams LLP in Portland, Oregon.

He was an athlete with a love for climbing, hiking, biking, swimming and surfing. He was also a musician and very active in the local music scene in Portland.

Also surviving Grey are his Grandparents, Jack and Frances Branning of Vicksburg Mississippi along with Aunts and Uncles Robert and Connie Moore of Suffolk, Virginia, Jim and Sharon Karel of Vicksburg, Mississippi and John and Mary Crull of Portland Oregon.

A memorial service will be held to honor Grey’s life in the sanctuary of Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina at 2:00 PM, Wednesday July 31st., followed at 3:00 by a gathering of family and friends in the church fellowship hall.
