Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this period of sorrow.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when I was reassigned with the Postal Service from Rocky Mount in 1985. I have relayed to a good number of postal managers that during my four years working in Raleigh, I could not recall ever hearing anyone say a disrespectful word pertaining to Bob. Bob was a true gentleman and a good friend. GOD BLESS YOU.

The father of my closest Raleigh friend, I came to know Bob Benton as a very intelligent, hard working, extremely caring man who loved his family deeply. Over the years, I acquired a deep admiration and respect for him, and it was well deserved. Having lost my father at a very early age, I have always thought of Bob as the ideal father who always stood up for what he believed in and took care of the people he loved. He will be sorely missed.

uncle bob was a kind hearted man who would assist you in anyway possible. I admired his patience and that was his greatest asset! we had many great memories when he drove us to grandma's house in newton grove nc. I cherished the times he would stop on the way home so everybody could get a Neihi grade or orange (glass bottles). he look so delighted just to see us light up when he stopped for drinks.
I will always remember this quote he told me when I was afraid that went like this, "the only thing to fear is fear itself." rip uncle bob until we all meet again. love martha Ann

Grandpa Bob, you were my only grandpa and I was your only granddaughter. You were the best man I know and I’m going to make you so proud. Michael is going to take good care of me for the rest of life just as you did for Katie. I miss you so much already but I know your watching over me. Love you more than life itself grandpa and I’ll see you in my dreams.

Uncle Bob was a kind man. I enjoyed coming over to play with Susan and Sharon when we were young. I also remember how patient he was with the three of us kids and how he still found the time to iron, keep house and cook the best home-made chicken and rice soup for us at the end of the day. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Sincerely, Joan Stearns Sferruzo
