

He was born on Monday, June 2, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Armando Quinta Fontaine and Wife, Iris Marie Fontaine, both of Puerto Rico.
Robert served in the US Navy during Vietnam and was honorably discharged after serving for 4 years and 2 years in the Reserves. Robert had a strong passion for athletics and sports.
Once Robert was honorably discharged from the US Navy, he became a frequent runner during the 80s and 90s, and had competed in over 100 races and marathons. He was an active baseball player and coach for much of the 70s and 80s. He was a die hard New York sports fan where he spent most of his days following the NY Mets, NY Jets, NY Rangers, and NY Knicks. Robert was very competitive as a young and middle aged man where he excelled in running, golf, baseball, bowling, and softball where softball and running were his favorite competitive sports to participate in.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert A. Fontaine and Wife, Susan Fontaine, son Gregory Fontaine and Wife, Barbara Fontaine, daughter, Danyelle Fontaine and Fiancé, Brady Murphy, and his beloved Grandchildren, Deanna Fontaine, Matthew Fontaine, Emma Fontaine, and Paisley Verrill.
Funeral Services were held in The Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park on Friday, July 29, 2022 with burial in Raleigh Memorial Park.
