Robert was the son of Dr. William and Alice Jordan. He was a man of quiet strength, intelligence, and kindness, qualities that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He enjoyed a long and successful career with IBM as a Systems Engineer in Gainesville, Florida. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sally Ford Jordan. Together they shared 30 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
After retiring, Robert and Sally fulfilled their dream of living in the Blue Ridge Mountains, spending seven enjoyable years in Wintergreen, Virginia. They embraced retirement through their love of golf, skiing, and the natural beauty that surrounded them. Eventually, missing Florida's warm winters, they returned to
Fleming Island, Florida, where they made their home for many years. Three years ago, they relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, to be closer to family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William and Alice Jordan; his brother, William Jordan; his first wife, Betty Jordan; his beloved wife, Sally Ford Jordan; and his grandson, Christopher Hayes.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Ann Cabell Jordan; his stepdaughters and their spouses, Karen and Tom Lynn, and Janet and Louis Chernoff; and his cherished grandchildren, Ashlee Mense, Kevin Lynn, and Sean Hayes. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
At Robert's request there will be no funeral ceremony. He will be laid to rest at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.
