He was born February 3, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Carl Pepe and Angelena Nese Pepe. Bob attended NC State University, where he played football and was a member of the 1957 Team that earned NC State its first conference title in the ACC. Bob received All American Honors in 1958 and was later drafted into the NFL. In 1987, he was inducted into the East Boros Chapter Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to Sports. Bob was a long time resident of Cary, NC and a longtime fan and supporter of NC State University.
Bob spent most of his career in the field of sales, primarily insurance. He was the consummate salesperson; resilient, honest, outgoing, optimistic, and insightful. No one ever felt as if they were a stranger around him and he was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Bob was a longtime member and supporter of St Michael the Archangel Church in Cary NC.
He is survived by his three children, Angela Pepe Phillips (Michael) of Warrenton, VA, Robin Pepe Harrison (Jay) of Raleigh, NC, Robert Alan Pepe II (Mandy) of Myrtle Beach, SC; three grandchildren, Zachary, Cara, and Remington, and his beloved pet, Jake.
A Liturgy of the Word will be held Saturday, October 16, at 11:00am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.
