

He was a graduate of Bunn High School and a U.S. Army Veteran, who proudly served his country during World War II. He was retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation, with 35 years of dedicated service. He also worked for the North Carolina State Fair for 50 years.
Along with his work, he also found time to become a 32nd Degree Master Mason of Vandora Lodge No. 345 in Garner, North Carolina. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry,Valley of Raleigh, North Carolina and a member of the North Carolina Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 321, Garner, North Carolina. He was very active in these organizations until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
He leaves behind the family he loved so dearly. Wife of 60 years, Mabel; Daughter Rita Stallings, both of Wake Forest. Grandson Kevin W. Harp, of Wake Forest, Granddaughter and Husband, Amy Marie and Jonathan Young; and one much loved Great Grandson, Noah James Young (Pa's Boy!), all of Raleigh. Brother Rev. Jeff Scarborough and wife, Ruth. of Garner. Sister-in-laws, Rose Gresham (Bill) of Garner; Nina Ray and Wanda Ennis, both of Morehead City. Also a host of relatives and many, many, friends. Also a special friend, W. G. Arnold. His pet Granddogs, Toby and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Howard and Nora Rogers Scarborough, and Mother and Father-in-law, W. E. and Carletta King Dillard. Also his pets that he loved so much gone on before him and have been reunited with him at Rainbow Bridge.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice and his wonderful caregivers for their excellent care. A special thanks to Sheryl, Nellie and Pam. Also thank you to his physician, Dr. Kevin Dougherty and his nurse Jana for their wonderful care.
Visitation will be Monday, March 22, 2010, from 7 pm to 9 pm. at Brown Wynne Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Charlie Carroll officiating. There will also be Masonic Rites and Military Services at the graveside.
