Ronald C. Au

Ron graduated from Iolani School before coming to the mainland to earn an Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1956 while participating in ROTC. Ron served as a Captain in the US Air Force and then went on to receive a Masters degree from Drexel University. He began his long and distinguished career with RCA and retired from Northern Telecom. He was an avid Boilermaker fan and served as President of the Purdue Alumni Club in Raleigh in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Ron was actively involved in the lives of his grandchildren who fondly called him Pop-Pop.

Ron taught Sunday School for many years. He was secure in his faith in Christ when his Savior called him home.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Sandra Chatham Au originally from Maple Shade, NJ; children: Keith Au (Renee) of Lexington, NC; Kim Au Delks (Barry) of Rossville, IN; Kris Au Hinton (Bob) of Clayton, NC; grandchildren: Jordan Delks (Courtney), Alan Au (Anna-Margaret), Wesley Delks (Madison), Kimberly Hinton, John Hinton, Jr. and Jeannie Hinton; great-grandson: Grayson Delks.

Family will receive friends on June 3, 2018 from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm in the Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 4:00pm, with Military Honors to conclude. "Aloha Attire" is preferred for Sunday's services.
