Ronald Lloyd Patterson

Ron was born on November 13th, 1944, to Jennings and Pauline Patterson in Marion, North Carolina. After Ron graduated from Marion High School (1963), He went on to study Welding in the shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. After completing his welding certification, Ron went on to open the first welding training school in Columbia South Carolina, this kickstarted a 40 + year career in Construction and Engineering with Fluor Daniels. Ron changed the lives of many welders and engineers over his time in the industry and was proud of and dedicated to his work. So much so that he returned after a short retirement stent to offer more of his expertise to the profession.

In 1984, Ron married the love of his life Marsha J. Patterson in Raleigh, North Carolina. The two created a beautifully blended family together with sons Ronny and Darran, and daughters, Sandy and Brandi. Ron was a present and dedicated father spending his free time at football, baseball, and softball games and traveling with his wife and children.

In 2012, Ron retired and spent his time with his family golfing, fishing, and on his boat as much as possible. He also enjoyed a good home improvement project building sunrooms and porches to make more space for family gatherings. Ron never missed an opportunity to connect with others from his passionate storytelling to organizing Family reunions and community events his love for others was felt by all. His presence at every event for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be greatly missed. His passion for his family was his greatest accomplishment and he was surrounded by their love until his final moments.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his sons, Ronny Patterson, Jr. (Jennifer), Darran Patterson (Annette); daughters, Sandy Olson (Andy), Brandi Seagroves (Moose); granddaughters, Shelbie Peregoy (Stuart), Celeste Woodard (Derek), Delicia Lebron, Cylee Brooks (Caleb), Caroline Patterson, Libby Olson, English Tuttle; grandsons, Christian Patterson, Sam Olson, Richard Logan, Paul Olson, Zeke Olson, Elliot MalPass; and great grand-children, Lillah-Rae Adams, Ryleigh Stephenson, Levi Woodard; sister: Pat Wilcox (Mike)

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Jennings Harold Petterson, Pauline Workman Patterson, and his brother, Jennings Harold Patterson, Jr.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
