I’m sorry to share that I lost my long battle with Multiple System Atrophy, but Courtney was with me, holding my hand and playing our song: My Girl, by the Temptations.
I am sad to leave behind my brothers, Fred, Bob, Franz, and Charlie Thoman, my sister Ceil Bremer, and all of my nieces and nephews. The hardest goodbye of all was to my daughter Courtney, her husband Geoffrey, and my grandkids Samantha and Henry Brock. I have loved spending this past year in Raleigh with them. If we weren’t racing down the halls of Waltonwood you could find us getting our toes done, going out for dinner, or watching movies together. They brought so much joy to my life and I will forever be grateful.
While I hate to leave the ones I love most behind, I am so happy to see family and friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. The first thing I’m going to do is have a tea party with my granddaughter Izzy and “eat’em piggies”. Next I’m going to hug my mom and dad, Rose and Oscar Thoman then laugh with my friends about all the adventures we’ve had since seeing one another. I’ve missed them all so much and am so happy to be spending time with them again.
It’s been a wonderful life filled with so many adventures with family and friends who became family. I can’t thank you all enough for all the love and support you’ve given me over the years. It’s truly been an honor.
You all know me well enough to know I have never wanted the traditional funeral so Courtney will be planning a party in the coming months where we can all be together.
