His visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
Harold was born July 15th, 1937, in Knoxville, TN to the late Russell McClain and Lurae Rennie McClain. He grew up in Raleigh and graduated from Needham B. Broughton High School in 1956. He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Roosevelt. After a long and successful sales career Harold enjoyed his retirement with his wife Patricia in Hampstead, NC.
Harold loved baseball and played Fast Pitch Softball for the WH King Drug Company in Raleigh. Later, he found his passion in golf. Harold was an avid golfer who made a total of eight holes-in-one during his golf career. He shot his age over fifteen times with the first at 68.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia Horton McClain of Hampstead; his children, Kimberly M. Jones of Pine Level, NC, Russell Harold McClain, Jr. (Lauren) of Clayton, NC and Michelle M. Gregory (Randall) of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Jordan Carol McClain of Raleigh, Henry M. Gregory of Raleigh and Waverly V. Jones IV of Greenville, NC
