

Sandra Jane Fearrington, MD of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the age of 67. She was born on September 16, 1958, in Raleigh, North Carolina where she grew up in the same home for 18 years.
She graduated from Millbrook High School and then from UNC Chapel Hill as a registered nurse. She went on to complete her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in June of 1991 to then become a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
She worked as a physician at the Grand Strand Wound Center at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. She specialized in treating complex, non-healing wounds, restoring health and comfort, and a quality of life to patients when they were at their most vulnerable. Her work was not just a job but was her calling. She possessed a deep longing for healing.
She was actively involved in fundraising and supporting the local animal shelter, Grand Strand Humane Society. She enjoyed volunteering at a local non-profit equine facility, Barnabas Horse Foundation. She had a tremendous love of animals. She also enjoyed long, sunset walks on the beach and tending to her plants and flowers.
She is preceded in death by her father – Watts B. Fearrington, Sr. (1930-1996)
She is survived by her daughter, Hannah Jane Sampson; her mother, Martha W. Fearrington; her sister, Patricia “Trish” F. Mueller (Chris-Husband); brother, Watts B. Fearrington, Jr.; Aunt, Julia W. Way; Nieces & Nephews, Austin B. Fearrington (Brooke-wife), Kimberly M. Gagnon (Max-husband), Callie F. Hobbs (Lewis-husband) and Sarah A. Mueller and numerous cousins.
Sandra preferred that visitors NOT wear black. She loved color, wildflowers and all things that looked like spring.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and memorial service at Mitchell Funeral Home 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:00 am. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 am.
Interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park at 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina immediately following the service.
