Sara Jane Morris

Sara Jane was born on February 27, 1940 to Sara and Julius M. Lennard, Jr. She later moved to Raleigh where she raised her four boys – they were her pride and joy. She dedicated her entire life to them, giving them a home they could be proud of, giving them every opportunity to be successful, setting the example of how to live a life of giving, and loving them unconditionally. While she worked in many areas and professions, the one she cherished the most was working at the North Carolina General Assembly for Representative Phil Haire.

Sara Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Sara, her first husband Scott Wilkinson, Sr. (2001), and her husband of twenty years, Jimmy C. Morris (2023).

She is survived by her sister, Susan James, her four boys, Kent (Angela), Scott Jr., Lance and Sean (Lori). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayley (Matthew) Lane (fiancé Rhonda), Alex, Margaret, Turner (Emily), Marshall and Lillian as well as her great-grandchildren, Luca, Milo, Cove and Olive. She is also survived by her dear cousins Barbara, Coral and Robert.

A heartfelt thanks to Trinity Baptist Church, Transitions Hospice and especially to Anita Holloway and the team at Heavenly Family Care Home for giving our mom the comfort, care and dignity she deserved in her final months.

A service of celebration will be held in the chapel at Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. Following the service, the family will receive friends at a reception in the fellowship hall.
