Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Scott and his family relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, in 1994 where Scott attended Asheville Public Schools. Scott grew up attending Central United Methodist Church in Asheville with his family where he was active in youth programs. He was a proud graduate of NC State University’s College of Design with a degree in art and design. Scott used his creative talents as a graphic designer at Epic Games. Earlier in his career, he was a motion designer at Myriad Media and McKinney. On September 29, 2018, Scott married the love of his life, Miranda Fluharty in his beloved Blue Ridge Mountains.
A quick wit and charming personality were trademarks of Scott’s so greatly enjoyed and appreciated by those who knew him well and his newest friends. Sensing that a birthday celebration might not be sufficiently as joyful as the attendees envisioned, 8 year old Scott serenaded a table of strangers in a restaurant with his own special version of “Happy Birthday”. His impeccable comedic timing provided laughter on so many occasions. The phrase “Toooooo long” is sure to invoke a smile among Scott’s immediate family members. Creativity and Scott go hand in hand. His creativity shined in the kitchen. His kitchen experiences at Marco’s Pizzeria during high school and Goodnight’s Comedy Club during college honed Scott’s cooking skills. Scott could transform mere leftover filet mignon into individual beef wellingtons arranged artistically on a platter. Like any talented cook, Scott’s love language was sharing his cooking abilities with others. Scott also loved sharing food. His first date with Miranda was at Mellow Mushroom. Much to the waitress’ chagrin, laughing together was priority over ordering pizza. That waitress earned her tip as she came to the table three times to get their order! He also had great love for family and friends. He remained lifelong friends with his high school buddies. Scott’s friend circle enlarged with his NC State experience and continued to expand as he entered the work force. As a compassionate people person, Scott would do anything for a friend. Scott loved to travel with family and friends. Camp JJ, hosted by Aunt Joanne and Uncle Lew, was a yearly summer event in Scott’s elementary years. As the youngest and therefore smallest of the cousins, Scott was always “it” in games of tag. Uncle Lew would always smile and say with delight: “He ain’t got no legs!” What Scott lacked in size was made up in heart! Scott enjoyed attending Camp Tekoa and Wilderness Trail. He also joined with friends on several Central UMC youth mission trips. Many fond memories were made at Lake Keowee and various beaches on the Carolina coasts with family and friends during his school years. Epic camping trips were made with his Dad and his brother. He accompanied his sister on the first leg of her South African adventure. Scott proposed to Miranda amidst the scenic canals of Amsterdam. How saddened we are that Scott ended his adventures much too soon. The void he leaves in our hearts will never be filled. How blessed we were to have the time with him that we did.
