Silvia Monica Martinez

Silvia Monica Martinez of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Monica, (or “Chiqui”, as she was known to her family), was born on December 13, 1964, in Bluefield, West Virginia. A proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Monica took her talents to several Triangle tech companies before ultimately deciding to work for herself as a day trader. Her skill and enthusiasm for navigating the stock market was rivaled only by her artistic talent and love of reading. We will forever cherish the many paintings and drawings she left behind.

Monica adored her dog, Lucy, and their long walks through Schenck Forest. In her free time, Monica loved reading books - SO many books! - and watching movies. The sound of her laugh while telling a funny story will never be forgotten.

Monica is survived by her mother, Sarah Rosario Quiroga; her father, Hugo Carlos Martinez; her sisters, Patricia (Ronnie) Martinez Stott and Kelly (Grant) Martinez Thompson; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews: Kirsten, Zachary, Leah, Isabel, Isaac and Garrett. Monica is also survived by her grand-nieces and grand-nephew, Fallon, Winslet and Cale.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, we find comfort in knowing she is now in His presence, held in perfect peace.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 5th at 10:00 am at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. The service will be live streamed and will be available through this link, https://www.youtube.com/@MitchellFuneralHomeatRMP
