Stephen Henry Boulay

Stephen was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Mary (Bauers) and James Austin Boulay on August 18, 1951. He attended Saint Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minnesota and earned a master’s degree in humanities from the California State University Dominguez Hills.

In 1975, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired after 20 years. He re-entered in 2005 and served in Baghdad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He finally retired in 2011 as a Major with 26 years of service. Some of his awards were the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal along with many others.

Stephen married Lynda (Bergmark) Gray on November 14, 1992, in Falls Church, Virginia.

He is survived by his wife Lynda, his daughters Renee (Coates), Louise, and Laura and his son James; his two brothers Joseph and James; and his two granddaughters Lorrdyn and Kaitlynn.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, brother Eloi, and sisters Mary Louise (LuLu) and Clare.

Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, North Carolina 27612

Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with dates to be known at a later time.

Memorials may be given to a veteran’s charity of your choice in Stephen’s name.
