When I moved to Raleigh in 1981 and did not know a soul, I met Sue when I began teaching at White Memorial Weekday School. She kindly took me under her wing, introduced me to people and got us involved at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. She remained my steadfast friend and supporter through medical problems and the adoptions of our two children both of whom were in many of the beautiful Christmas pageants at HBUMC. She never failed to check on me and my family. When I began teaching in the preschool at Hayes Barton she often stopped by for a visit in my classroom. She always had time for a hug, a smile, and words of encouragement or understanding. I will miss her so much. She was my loyal friend and she made my world better. Sue certainly blessed all who knew her. Love and sympathy to all of her dear family whom she cherished.

Sue Perry had a way of leading and valuing children that enriched their lives and allowed them to minister to the whole church. Jason Walz and Stephanie Vining are now adults but have been Angels and Wisemen and Shepherds. That opportunity created the fabric of who they have become and how they also give back. I could never thank her enough. She shared her talents in such a way that we became better Christians. My heart is sad that she has passed but bursts with all that she shared in her life. She is an angel.
