She leaves behind a lifetime of memories to her husband, Mark, and her three central joys in life: her sons, Kyle, Jeremy and Ryan, as well as her parents, Ronald and Darlene Soltis, her brother Rich and his wife, Tammy, both of Mechanicsville, Maryland , and her niece, Briana Boswell, her “little sister’. Her uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws also share in this loss.
Tammy’s essence can best be described by her dedication to the four ‘F’s: Family, Friends, Fitness and Fun. Tammy was born on April 11, 1972 in Cheverly, Maryland, and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland as a proud Eagle. She was the first in her extended family to leave the Old Line State when she moved to attend college at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, a city that she never left. She graduated in May of 1994 with a degree in Food Science and began her career at Goodmark Foods in East Raleigh.
It was at that point where she met her future husband, Mark, in the “Wagon Wheel”, a redneck bar in nearby Garner that neither had ever visited before nor ever returned to. With the impending birth of her first son, she felt a calling to change her vocation to personal fitness, channeling her energy, passion and dedication towards helping others improve not only their physical fitness but their mental wellbeing.
Tammy was one of the original Camp Gladiator Boot Camp Trainers in Raleigh, NC, launching her first Camps in 2013. She built tight-knit communities where every person felt seen, valued, and challenged to be their best.
For many, Tammy wasn’t just their Trainer; she was their coach, their motivator, their steady voice, and their friend. She helped people rediscover fitness, heal, grow, and carry that confidence far beyond the workout. Her strength and joy will live on through the hundreds of lives that she has changed for the better.
She built her family alongside her career, welcoming and nurturing sons Kyle, Jeremy and Ryan. She raised her sons to be kind and caring with a big heart, but to also be rock solid and strong in both mind and body.
Her outer beauty, framed by her eyes and smile, was only surpassed by the beauty of her spirit and her ability to form a connection with anyone she met. At the close of her earthly story, Tammy formed one final community to join the many others that orbited around her due to the force of her energy, creativity and positivity. Tammy was an organ donor, and through that gift created one final circle of at least four individuals who have a new lease on life, with Tammy at their center. It is our fondest hope that all of these communities continue to thrive as witness to her legacy.
Her family extends an invitation to all of you to celebrate and honor the life and memory of Tammy Marie Yalch at any or all of the following events to be held in her name:

“We did not ask for this room or this music.
We were invited in.
Therefore, because the dark surrounds us,
let us turn our faces to the light.
Let us endure hardship
to be grateful for plenty.
We have been given pain
to be astounded by joy.
We have been given life
to deny death.
We did not ask for this room or this music.
But because we are here,
let us dance.”
