Thomas Earl Rogers, a native of Raleigh, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning after a brief illness. Tommy found friends wherever he went. He was a captivating story teller, a joker and a great listener. He was a proven craftsman in the flooring industry.
Above all else, Tommy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy was the company of his wife, Lynda P. Rogers, of 44 years, his son James Earl "Peanut", James' wife Addy Rogers and four grandchildren: Michael Martin Poythress and Piper Mae, Reed Thomas and Isley Anne Rogers. He is also survived by his sister: Connie Faison and husband Jimmy, of Clayton; brother: Ronnie Rogers and wife Teresa, of Raleigh; and by his adopted dog, "Lucy". He lives on through his family, friends and many lasting memories and while gone, he will never be forgotten.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, E.B. Rogers, his mother, Shirley Wood Coen and by his son, Martin Poythress.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8th from 1-2 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park (7501 Glenwood Avenue), with Memorial Services to begin at 2 pm. Burial of his urn will immediately follow within the cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated; however, donations in honor of Tommy's love of NASCAR can be made to the Dale Jr. Foundation at www.thedalejrfoundation.org.
