Valentine Joseph Huegel, 78, passed away on January 23rd, 2021, with his family by his side in Raleigh, North Carolina. Valentine Lived In Raleigh North Carolina Since 2006, relocating from Brooklyn NY.
He was born August 9th, 1942 in the Bronx NY to Valentine and Myndert Huegel.
Valentine spent some summers at his aunt's farm in Northern Wisconsin and all around Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in 1959. Valentine Joined the Air Force and Became Very Ill at the end of boot camp and received a medical discharge. He then attended college at St Francis College in Brooklyn, NY.
Valentine became a developmental chemist and also a math and science school teacher.
He spent quite a bit of time coaching the Windsor Wildcats baseball team in Windsor terrace Brooklyn and running a science lab in PS 154 elementary School as well as weekend movies to raise money for the school. He became PTA President and also ran for County School Board.
Valentine was an active member of the Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, NY and spent a lot of time volunteering with the Knights Of Columbus as well as assisted in founding a senior center in the Knights Of Columbus in Brooklyn, NY.
His interests included all types of sports (Especially Baseball) and sports radio. Valentine was known as "Val From Brooklyn" as a regular call in guest to WFAN radio as well as attended many sports related events and television shows in New York City. Valentine devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members and a community volunteer.
Valentine is survived by his brother, John Huegel and His Wife Theresa Huegel. Valentine's children are Joseph and his spouse Rebecca Huegel, Jennifer and her spouse Christopher Giacoppo, Jeffrey And Jonathan Huegel and his 2 grandchildren Steven and Michael.
Valentine was succeeded in death by his mother and father Valentine and Myndert Huegel.
