Velma L. Caruthers of Raleigh, NC passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born December 12, 1929 in Southwest Missouri and lived in the area until 2007 when she moved to Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community in Raleigh to be closer to her daughter.
She is survived by her son, Keith A. Caruthers and wife Patsy of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Barbara Crabb and husband Kerry of Durham, NC; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; one brother, William “Bill” and wife Ruby Wilson of Denton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Earnest Richard “Dick” Caruthers in 1972.
Services will be held at Greystone Baptist Church, 7509 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 on Tuesday, June 16, 2014 at 10:00 am with visitation to follow the service. She will be transported to Missouri for internment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greystone Baptist Church or Springmoor Life Care Community.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the care givers at Springmoor and friends from the community and church that befriended her and helped her embrace life in NC.
