Born in Raleigh on November 4, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leroy Edwards of Raleigh, Wanda grew up in Boylan Heights – a true Raleigh native. After graduating from Broughton High School in 1964, Wanda attended Elon College and graduated, Valedictorian, with a degree in English Literature in 1968. After college, Wanda worked in the Trust Department at N.C. Nations Bank in Raleigh. Wanda is survived by her only child, Holly King.
Wanda’s greatest pride was undeniably her role as mother to Holly – a role she played with boundless love, joy and humor. She never missed a horse show, was the first to arrive and the last to leave. Wanda was a keen reader, avid shopper, masterful cook and loyal friend.
Wanda was an example to us all, embracing life’s blessings with joy and enthusiasm, and facing life’s challenges with unwavering grace and elegance. The kindness and optimism that she projected on a daily basis is a gift to all who knew her; and her smile – infectious.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street in Raleigh at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Family will receive visitors immediately following the Memorial Service.
