Coach Begor was a mentor to an entire generation of young people on the Peninsula. I will always cherish our time together In football at Ferguson and at the flower shop where he kept us off the streets and out of trouble. God bless him and his entire family!

My sympathies to the entire Begor family. I have so many fond memories as his mixed doubles partner in my junior tennis days in Newport News. I know how many lives he impacted and I am sure that he was the most awesome cheering grandfather for all the big moments in your lives.

Coach Begor was a wonderful, smart man to know and look up to while I was a student at Ferguson. I know all of the family will greatly miss his fun, great wisdom and his gentle kindness. Prayers and blessings to you all at this time of loss.

Dear Phyllis,Danni,and Sherri,
My wife Molly and I wish to extend to the entire Begor clan our sympathy on the occasion of Wayne's passing. It was my privilege to serve with Wayne on the football staff as his line coach during the first four years of Ferguson High School's existence (1961-1964) and then later on with him on the central office staff. Wayne was truly an all around special person, as a coach, as a teacher of young people, a person of great wit and accomplishment, a coach's coach, and a "class act". I know the folks in Newport News are better off for having had him in our midst for so many years. May God Bless you and the family as you deal with your grief and I pray that you all turn to our maker for strength in the days ahead.

Flash back -- big boys from Hpowell are in town for an early fall football game at Newport News High. At some point during the game with Hopewell doing a job on the Typhoons.. Wayne Begor from his halfback position slipped through the defense and was all alone streaking down the field but alass.. after a run of about 50 to 60' yards was caught from behind and crushed into the turf... A great memory of very good player and all around "good guy". It was the highlight of the game. I was in the class and a close friend of his brother Billy in those days -- great memorys. The crowd is still on its feet Wayne ... go go go

An absolute wonderful tribute to obviously a wonderful family man, teacher, mentor, and coach. The last couple of days in Newport News showed the outpouring of genuine love for this man who took to heart ALL his responsibilities. I feel it an honor to have known Wayne just a little and to have been present with his family and friends for a "big league" send off.
