Bill is survived by his mother Alice Huss Bost of Greenville, NC; his brother, Hunter Huss Bost of Durham, NC; his sons, William Stuart Bost, IV of Raleigh, NC and Douglas Bryant Bost of Washington, DC; and his daughter, Sarah Tucker Bost of Raleigh, NC. He is preceded in death by his father, William Stuart Bost, Jr. of Greenville, NC.
Bill was born on December 23, 1963 in Columbus, GA and moved to Greenville, NC early in life. He graduated from J. H. Rose High School in Greenville, NC in 1982 then UNC-Chapel Hill in 1986 as a Morehead Scholar with a degree in Economics. He continued his education at UNC-Chapel Hill and graduated in 1989 with a Juris Doctorate and as a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif.
After moving to Raleigh, Bill worked for several law firms before working in private practice for over 10 years. As an attorney, Bill served as legal counsel to The NC Association of Mortgage Professionals and worked closely with the NC Legislature on banking, mortgage and affordable housing issues. He was a frequent business and legal ethics lecturer and published books and articles on business ethics and the connection between depression and the legal profession. Later in life, he dedicated his life to helping young professionals with alcohol and substance abuse issues, including serving as a Board Member and legal counsel for CASA Affordable Housing Raleigh and volunteering at The Healing House Raleigh.
Bill treasured spending time with his family. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours playing golf, fishing and coaching soccer and basketball with his children. He will be remembered for his intelligence, incredible sense of humor, warmth and dedication to helping those in need.
A small memorial service is scheduled for 12:30 PM Sunday, September 11th at Umstead Park in Raleigh, NC, with a reception to follow at The Hampton Inn, Brier Creek.
