Bill was born September 8, 1959, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to the late William Herbert Fuchs and Audrey Young Fuchs. Bill was educated at Western Carolina University, transferring to NC State University, where he received a degree in Communications in 1985. He started his broadcasting career locally with Raleigh television stations, moving into audio engineering as a freelance contractor with Fox, ESPN, NBC Sports and several others. His career included Olympic Games, NASCAR, IRL, NBA, MLB, Golf, among others, receiving ten Emmy Awards for his audio work.
He was an avid collector of cameras, clocks, telephones and lamps, enjoyed listening to music, especially Rock and Roll and Bluegrass, and loved to play the 'spoons'. In his free time, he played golf and horseshoes. Bill will be fondly missed by his entire family, as well as his friends. He was rarely seen without his sunglasses and slippers.
Bill is survived by his sons, William Jeremiah Fuchs, James Harrison Fuchs, siblings, Karen Buckner, and her husband, Larry, Linda Raynor, and her husband, Mark, Eileen Fuchs, Bob Fuchs, Kathy Ramsey, and her fiancé, Israel Burch; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Laura, Joshua, Jonathan, Ashley, Joey, Alex, Austin, Audrey; and six great nieces & nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
