William Jack Hines, Jr. passed away on January 30, 2026 after a brief illness. He was born in Statesville, NC on January 7, 1931 to William Jack Hines, Sr. and Inez Rupard Hines. The family moved to Raleigh when he was seven and this was his home for the rest of his life. He graduated from Broughton High School in 1950 and attended NC State College and was a member of the NC State Drum and Bugle Corps. He spent his entire career working with his father at W. J. Hines Company where they manufactured bank and store fixtures,

He was also a bagpiper in the McCleod Pipes and Drums and spent many enjoyable years traveling to parades and the Highland Games to perform. But his first love other than his family was boats and the beach. He often said that the first time he saw the ocean he knew he had found his passion. He and his wife Tina were able to enjoy many happy years at their vacation home in Goose Creek Landing where they made a number of dear friends.
