William H. “Bill” McGregor, Sr., 90 years old, a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, Massachusetts died peacefully Wednesday morning, November 17, 2021 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Bill was born in Fitchburg, MA on February 17, 1931, the son of the late Thomas and Mariam (Lavalley) McGregor. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, class of 1948.
William is survived by his wife of 54 years Nancy V. (Bosworth) McGregor; one son, William H. McGregor, Jr. and his wife Rachel and two grandsons, Matthew Phillip McGregor and Adam Henry McGregor all of Raleigh, NC. He also leaves one brother, Philip McGregor of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Quaresima of New York and Mary Pollastri of Leominster, MA, and one brother, James McGregor of Fitchburg.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean Conflict. He worked for over 40 years in the paper manufacturing industry until his retirement. Bill loved to golf and spent many happy days on the golf course during his retirement. He was also an avid New England Patriots fan and had season tickets from the very beginning when this team was formed. His biggest enjoyment was hearing from his grandsons Matt and Adam when they would call him from North Carolina and would say “I love you grandpa”.
There will be a memorial service at a later date to be announced in the spring in Fitchburg, MA, with fam- ily and friends.
