

Bill was born on August 15, 1931 to the late William L. Warren and Juanita King Warren in Wake County on a farm in what is now part of Umstead State Park. He attended Cary Elementary School and graduated from Millbrook High School. Bill was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. King and was considered a brother by the King children.
After high school, Bill enlisted in the Air Force serving most of his time in Germany.
After his time of service, Bill enrolled in Chowan College earning a degree in Graphic Arts. Always a participant in sports, he was on the basketball team while at Chowan. After college Bill played church and city league basketball and baseball. He also coached his sons in every sport they played.
Bill’s working career was in the insurance industry. He began with Nationwide Insurance Company, working there 13 years then moving to Great American Insurance Company, retiring in 1996. He spent his retirement years driving cars for Enterprise, a job he enjoyed very much.
Bill is survived by his wife, Anne Long Warren, daughter, Anita Heath, sons, Philip Warren and wife, Jill, John Warren and wife Maidi, three grandsons, Will C. Heath, David Warren and Brandon Warren, brother, Don Capps and sister, Myrtle Claire Sears. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Tim Capps, Leyburn King, Weldon King and Bruce King and sisters Rebecca Simpson and Hazel Sweat.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, with burial immediately following at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607, or Trinity Baptist Church in his memory.
